You’re driving along and there they are- bus stop benches.  They are seemingly innocuous, why would anything associated with them be dumb?  Then you see one that hasn’t been filled with information about Dr. Smile’s half price tooth whitening or Shirley Muffinsworth, certified real estate agent, helping you sell your home since 1976!  This bench has a simple statement, “You just proved bench advertising works”.  This statement could not be further from the truth.  Have I picked up the phone and called to purchase bench advertising?  No.  Is there any chance in the world I am going to do so?  No.  In fact, even if I wanted bench advertising I would seek it out some other way, just so these dumb advertisers will never be right.  The only real thing that has been “proved” is that people read bench advertising, and that is a far cry from proving that it works.  So I say to you, people who create bench advertising for bench advertising, you are dumb.
